At the end of each class, I wish I had the technology in my classroom to do all these great things. I love the idea of a scavanger hunt with my kids. We just finished a unit on Greek Mythology and what a great way to end the unit. I wish I could have had this class 2 weeks ago. The class continutes to fuel my fire for technology and makes me want it more and more. Maybe I can deal with the computer lab teacher and get my kids in there soon. It's also cool to read about how to organize bookmarks and review some basic skills on the computer. The book is a great tool for when I want to really start teaching the new literacies in my room. I just read on the Apple web page that NCLB has billions of dollars in Title II money for teacher improvement. Did anyone know about that and I wonder what they mean by it? Will we ever see it? The track record says no.

I agree with your thoughts on the book. There are so many great ideas and great websites that I never would have even thought to search for! I am so happy to have a textbook that I will actually uses! As for NCLB, I have no hope towards getting funding here. I feel like there is no faith left in the government funding. That's why having sources like those you mentioned in the book is so much more important.
julie said- Your school is lucky to have you and your enthusiasm. Taking this class and leanring about all of these technology resources really makes me wish I was teaching. I would love to design scavenger hunts for students.
In the least, I will have something to look forward to when I eventually return to work. I am really enjoying the book also. It is an invaluable resource and quite easy to read and understand, unlike some text books that are overwhelming. I agree with Kelli about the government and NCLB. It seems like administrators, parents and gov are always asking for teachers to give more..more..more, without funding or compensation. Teaching is definately one of those professions that you love, because it's "in your soul" and not because of the pay benefits.
